As the year winds down to an end, and as part of a larger project of cateloging all of my images, I am going back through and picking out and processing a few of my favorites from this past year. This was taken from Goodnow Mountain in the Adirondacks, on my favorite-to-date sunrise summit hike.
The red barn in Keene, NY was taken down today by the NYSDEC. It was deemed a public health and safety hazard, and unfortunately, was also deemed unfit for repair. This particular barn was incredibly popular among visitors, especially visiting photographers, for obvious reasons. The barn was situated on State Forest Preserve lands in an ideal setting and location. It's a landmark that will truly be missed.
The summit of Algonquin Mountain, January 2016. It can be easy to underestimate the alpine conditions found in the Adirondack High Peaks during the winter months. Always be prepared to spend an unexpected night (or two) when you go out. Seek qualified instructors if you are new to hiking, or just new to the area.
My fiancee and I visited New York City for our anniversary, and while I was not there for it, I did manage to capture some images while we were there.
Woke up a little after 3am this morning to drive down to the Catskills, and hike up Overlook Mountain, to catch the sunrise from the summit.
